'Sann mar seo tha sinn a' brosnachadh na Gàidhlig

On-line Gaels: we believe in free speech, except when we don't

Bha Gilleasbuig mòiteil às twitterati na Gàidhlig an t-seachdain sa chaidh, agus na freagairtean measarra aca a thaobh dithis cholbhaiche Beurla san Albannach a thuirt (nach ann orra-san a bha an aghaidh!) nach eil Cànan nan Gàidheal cho buileach vibrant & thriving sin.

"… as we have seen with the Scotsman's reaction to a column by John Gibson, racism such as this is laughed off as "light-hearted" and "tongue-in-cheek"!
"Mr Reilly and his colleagues at the Scotsman might not like the fact that Gaelic is on its way back [Gilleasbuig: Eh?!] and will, I am certain, continue with their vitriol in an attempt to inform public opinion against the language".  Arthur Cormack, air facebook

"… this sour Scotsman diatribe. In truth, the contrast between enlightened men like [Murchadh] MacPhàrlain and the likes of Massie couldn’t be more stark". Rhona NicDhùghaill, blogger

Bha de threuntas aig feadhainn eile dhe na seòid is nach do chuir iad an ainmean ris an obair aca, abair gaisgich!

Nise, gràin-chinnidh, leth-bhreith: sin agad an t-Albannach. Gràin-chinnidh, leth-bhreith … oh, agus cia mheud bhliadhnaichean dhen duilleag Gàidhlig aca? [fact: it's 88]

Gilleasbuig:
Sin agaibh mar a bhrosnaichear a' Ghàidhlig! Coma leibh amas air còmhradh reusanta, mo thogair gabhail ris gur dòcha gum bi caochladh bheachdan ann nach toil leibh. A-steach leis a' bhròg mhòr! Agus na dìochuimhnich am pàipear-naidheachd a chàineadh gu dubh, fhad 's a tha sibh ris, oir tha fhios gur co-ionnan beachdan colbhaiche agus beachdan a' phàipeir.
Na dèanaibh freagairt dhan deasaiche, thalla air-loidhne agus dèanaibh searmoin dha na followers agaibh. Agus ma nì sibh gun urra e, air neo fo dhà no thrì dh'ainmean fuadain, bhiodh sin na b'fhèarr buileach!

Coming soon: highlights from Gilleasbuig's treasured press-release collection!

  2. Who says these bigots shouldn't have free speech? I don't see that in any of the examples you've posted. Or are you saying that Gaels don't have a right to respond?

Surely there's a difference between constructive opinion and out an out nutters just bashing folk?

As to Iomairtean Gaidhlig, why did they block you? Why has Bella Caledonia dropped you from their list?

    You're a loose cannon boyo.

  3. Gilleasbuig says:Hi "Mhurchaidh", or should it be Tocasaid? He wondered which of your many noms de plume you'd pop up under!

Awaiting with interest your pseudonymous reply to your own comment!

  4. "Tha Anna NicSuain, a th' air a bhith an sàs ann an leasachadh na Gàidhlig o chionn iomadh bliadhna, den bheachd gu bheil an t-àm ann airson crathadh mòr a thoirt air mar a thathas a' dèiligeadh ris a' Ghàidhlig aig ìre choimhearsnachd, agus ann am foghlam sna h-Eileanan."

Chuir mise street party air doigh mus tigeadh crathadh air a' choimhearsnachd againn. Cha d'thainig duine.
